History of the Grasshopper

Shortly after the turn of the century, the Guichet family purchased Tujague’s from founders Guillaume and Marie Tujague. Philibert Guichet invented the drink that would become known as the Grasshopper, for a 1918 cocktail competition in New York City. Guichet’s cocktail secured a second-place finish and became so popular back home in New Orleans, that it’s held a permanent spot on the Tujague’s cocktail menu ever since.
